Is Honesty the Best Policy?

Honesty is the Best Policy - this is a well-known idiom, but how true is it? You've probably heard of this since young from your parents, learnt it in your schooldays, among your buddies & even in the working world, but how many of us practice it? Let's not comment on others, do a quick self-check, are you being honest to the people around you all these while? =)

Well, I admit that I do lie sometimes, but they are usually white lies to please others. It is not easy to break unpleasant news to others, especially to those whom we dearly loved & cared. By not telling them the truth, it may bring smile, laughter & happiness to them. They will continue to live without any worries or doubts, thinking they are the most fortunate person on earth, having the most trustable friends & everything in their life are flawless! Such a lovely & wonderful life, isnt it?

Natalie was a sweet & cheerful girl, till the truth was revealed, her life fell apart totally. She was heartbroken & what worse was she discovered the truth on her own!!! Finding out the ugly truth was painful & Natalie was in depression for months. She was unable to accept & face the reality. She was in doubts - constantly wondering whether the truth that she has discovered is real? She was convincing herself that everything will be alright one day. However, during that time she was emotionally & mentally bothered.

"Why is this happening to me?? What have I done wrong to deserve this?? Should I forgive & forget??" - these were the questions lingering around Natalie. She prayed hard every day & night, asking for guidance & courage from The Above. Days & months have passed & she still hasnt got a definite & honest answer from her loved ones. Till today, Natalie is still searching for the truth. She is hoping that time will heal everything & situation will be better one day. She lives a miserable life & can no longer easily trust anyone. She does not want to be hurt & betrayed again.

If Natalie's loved ones were honest to her from the beginning, will she live differently now? Or should Natalie just live like who she was before, pretending not knowing the truth? I missed Natalie's cheerful laughter & I would love to see her being happy again. So, is honesty the best policy? I'll leave it to you to judge.

Cordyceps

Cordyceps aka 冬虫草 is well-known for its goodness & valuable nutrition. Commonly found in Chinese medical hall, cordyceps is sold at high price or rather self-priced by the shop owner. The Chinese have long used Cordyceps to promote overall good health. Modern research indicated that it does indeed support liver, kidney, heart & immune system function. What more, it also appears to act as an anti-oxidant in the body!!

The tiny brown medicine, usually sold in bundles, is actually a type of fungus. It is a parasite that grows on the Tibetan caterpillar until the caterpillar dies, at which point it sprouts into mushroom. These Tibetan wild grown Cordyceps, particularly in Tibetan regions, is thought to be the most medicinally potent. It is usually picked from the greens after 60 days & sun-dried before being packed into premium gift box. There is some concern that wild Cordyceps may carry the risk of lead poisoning, because some fungus harvesters attach a lead filament to the medicine in order to increase its weight, to fetch a higher price.

However, with the advance of technology these days, Cordyceps are cultured indoor. It is harvested on the 48th day as it has the highest & most active nutrients. The Cordyceps is then being produced into capsules, extract or powder form for consumers. Cordyceps - being market as dietary supplements these days can be easily purchased from pharmacies. It is reasonably priced & safe for consumption and is not associated with any significant side effects.

It is never too late to stay popping this wonderful food into your body. I have started it for weeks (mainly for the anti-oxidants!), I could feel the energy level of body has improved. At least, it helps me to stay awake till late night a little longer than usual! =) What are you waiting for then?

Kinetosis

This was my vision since after lunch today. The feeling is still lingering till the moment I got into bed. I am always prone to having motion sickness, ever since schooldays till I stepped into working world.
Kinetosis a.k.a. car sickness is just one kind of motion sickness. I was suffering from this the entire afternoon after a short trip out today for lunch. We were driving on a straight road, in a cool & comfortable continental car but I was feeling dizzy & nauseated throughout the journey. How could this happen?? I was blaming the hot striking sun at first but then I realized it was the inconsistent acceleration of the automobile. The driver was accelerating & of a sudden, he retracted it - causing the passengers feeling the inertia. It became worse when the car jerked forward every 2 minutes - yes, I am not exaggerating.
I was checking out the interior of the new car to keep myself busy. Thank God I took the front passenger seat. The 2 back passengers were suffering worse than me, poor them! One of them was looking out of the window & the other was shutting his eyes! After a tough 15 minutes ride, we finally arrived & there were 3 pale looking passengers getting off the cool sporty car...

Lessons learnt:
1) Distract yourself, shut your eyes, looking out of window help in overcoming car sickness!
2) Always have an ointment or balm around you - it helps to relief dizziness (it saved our lunch at least)
3) A great sport car with a gorgeous driver MUST be equipped with excellent driving skills!

Superstitions...

Yesterday marked the longest total solar eclipse in 21st century. It lasted as much as 6 minutes and 39 seconds in some parts of Asia. This phenomenal is visible only in Asia this time around. Millions grabbed the once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness the phenomenon - where the moon moves directly in between the sun & earth, covering it completely to cast a shadow on earth.

As a number of excited viewers all set with gears (e.g. binocular, sunglasses), waited patiently & cheered when the eclipse took place, there were many who totally stayed away from the outdoor. In India, there was a special trip organized where a travel agent chartered a flight to fly a handful of enthusiastic passengers at the specific time to view the eclipse up close. Of course the fare was charged at a premium rate.
However, there were believers who stayed indoor throughout the sun eclipse, as they believed the occurrence of this eclipse emits negative energy as well as brings disasters to the world. There's a saying that phenomenon of the sun eclipse depicts a dragon & demon eating up the sun - taking away all the good vibes from the country. In eastern country, the eclipse depicts a death of an emperor. Some astrologers predicted that this eclipse will bring war.

There was a pregnant lady being told (by her elders) to stay in her room, curtained all the windows & chant prayers to protect her baby during the sun eclipse. They believed the sunlight would harm her baby - resulting the baby to deform, having unusual birthmark & premature birth.
A local well-known astrologist advised the people to fast during the sun eclipse (local time 8 - 10.30am) to collect more merits. It is believed that during these hours, the energy on earth are extremely low & negative. Thus, by fasting it could help to improve one's luck.
It was also stated that viewers will be in bad luck for 20 years if they managed to catch a glimpse of the eclipse!!

How true are the above statements?? Is it a belief in different cultures or ethnicity or is it purely a superstition?? Of course for myself, well-noted for being superstitious, stepped in to workplace before 8 & fast for that 2.5 hours. =) Luck improved?? We will see ;)

The Perfect Fit...

There is nothing perfect in this world. Thus, we are constantly improving & looking out for the best to suit us or our lifestyle. The same theory applies to one of the ladies daily necessities - Bras. According to surveys, 80% of women are wearing the incorrect bra size. It takes time to find the right bra. Getting the right bra or determining the correct bra size is an art.

5 Tips to The Right Bra Size
  1. Measure, measure & measure!
  2. Try several different styles of bra
  3. Adjust it & note the comfort level
  4. Don't worry about the price!
  5. Treat your piece with great care
Knowing the price for a piece of bra (yes...it's not cheap), ladies, do make sure that you are wearing the correct one! The right & comfortable ones should provide the best support to your assets!! Don't let your assets give in to earth gravity, at least not till you are 60!
So lets get going! Visit the stores if you need help or if you are shy, get more info (e.g. videos) from the Internet as a guide! =)
It's never too late to get the right size now!

1st Hike - Broga Hill

The current hottest hiking place - Broga Hill, Semenyih. It has become the most talked about jungle trekking spot not only among hikers but almost every blogger or facebook users. Out of curiosity, I have decided to go check out the place. In order to catch the sunrise, I arrived at the foothill at 5.30am. To my surprise, there were already 50+ youngsters getting ready to set off! I thought I was early! =p
Anyway, my friends & I started our journey with the help of torch lights! It was pitch black & we could hardly follow the track. After a series of stretching & balancing, finally we made it to the peak! Everyone chose a good spot, enjoying the morning breeze & waited patiently for the sunrise. Unfortunately, due to the haze, we could barely catch a glimpse of the sunrise.

The view from the peak was cool but it will be more stunning if there's no haze! Overall the trip was fun & exciting. Will definitely revisit this place, of course, when the air quality gets better!!!
We will be back for the sunrise! =)
