Mother's Day 母亲节

This weekend is Mother's Day. Today had a family dinner to celebrate Mother's Day - for our beloved mum cum dad. =) A simple western dinner at Jack's Charbroil Jalan Setiapuspa was so-so. Would probably the first & last visit there. Even though food was not amazing but what matters was the time spent together. All of us had a good time out, spending most of the time to catch up after 2 weeks from the last gathering we had.
In short tonight was a great night out celebrating for 2 mothers - mum & sil (mum to 2 kids). Happy Mother's Day to all the greatest mum on earth! =)

United We Stand

I've learnt this phrase since young, no matter in school or at home - United We Stand. Today is the day where the people around me is putting this phrase into action. Everyone has a same objective and goal, gathered at one place and stand united as one to ask for a clarification.
At workplace, my team members have been working as one professionally to contribute and deliver the assignments. Even though we do have arguments and dissatisfaction sometimes, but it is always overcome peacefully and we are back together as one again.
At home, my mum always preach us siblings to stand united as one. Do not be influenced by words or act of people who try to create havoc among ourselves. There shouldn't be hatred among siblings. Whatever arguments or unhappiness should be forgotten. We flow the same blood and hurting one another should never happen.
Among friends, it is hard to practice this. As it is so difficult to find true and sincere friends, what more someone who is willing to stand by your side when you are in any difficulties. Am glad that I have a group of friends that treasure friendship and my principle is - the quality of friends are always better than number of quantity of friends that one has.
What do you think? :)

Focus & Fruitful

It has been an interesting week. Our country's 13th election has just past & there is a mixed emotions among the people. Anger, frustration, happiness & joy...different people has different feelings for the results.
The angry & upset clan has been unhappy over the results. There was a silent walk event where people wore black and tape their mouth as a sign of protest for a clean & fair election. A lot of rumors have been spread via social media that stirred commotion among people.
With all these posts and news around, it actually indirectly encouraged & woke up the energy in oneself. The motivated or rather "disturbed" person tends to be able to focus more on work. Their mind is more focused & is able to think & contribute more fruitful ideas at work.
So afterall the anger does have a positive impact to a person. I have seen a few examples of such positive change in my workplace & am quite impressed by it. I guess these people have high EQ as well to be able to control their emotion & divert their anger to contribute more solid & concrete ideas during meetings. =)

Story of A Pencil

I came across this article & find it quite motivating! Just to share... :)

A boy was watching his grandmother write a letter. At one point, he asked, "Are you writing a story about what we've done? Is it a story about me?"

His grandmother stopped writing her letter and said to her grandson, "I am writing about you, actually, but more important than the words is I'm using this pencil. I hope you will be like this pencil when you grow up."

Intrigued, the boy looked at the pencil & said "It didn't seem very special. 'But it's just like any other pencil I've ever seen!"

"That depends on how you look at things. It has five qualities & which, if you manage to hang on to them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world."

1st quality: 'You are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand of God, and He always guides us according to His will.'

2nd quality: 'Now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he's much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make you a better person.'

3rd quality: 'The pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing; it helps to keep us on the road to justice.'

4th quality: 'What really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.'

Finally, the pencil's 5th quality: 'It always leaves a mark. In just the same way, you should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action.'

Ramadhan Month

Time really pass by quickly, the Ramadhan month is back! I last blogged about Ramadhan when I was in Dubai. Well this time round, am experiencing it in my homeland with a bunch of foreigners workers. Just to share a funny yet annoying scene that happened recently.
Chris: "Hey everyone, tomorrow will be the first day of Ramadhan. This means the Muslims will be fasting - no food & drinks for them!"
Everyone turned and looked at him in dazed as there was an email sent out earlier informing everyone.
Lim: "So...?"
Chris: "So...from tomorrow onwards, no one is allowed to drink and eat in public! Make sure no food and drinks can be found on your desk!"
Everyone gave Chris a puzzled look and resumed to work. Chris left proudly as if he had made a great announcement.
Henry (German): "Wow! I didn't know it is so strict in Malaysia. The non-Muslims are not allowed to eat in public??"
Jenny (Brit): "When I was in Singapore, people are allowed to eat in public. Why not in Malaysia?"
After several questions and queries, Lim finally voiced out.
Lim: "Hey guys, there is no such law in Malaysia that we (non-Muslims) are not allowed to eat in public or in front of the Muslims. You guys don't need to hide yourself in pantry."
"By the way, the announcement was made by a Korean who was raised up in Australia. :)"
